“Knowing Bros” Criticized For Joking About Kim Hee-chul’s Ex TWICE’s Momo…Again
Netizens are angry as Kim Hee-chul's ex-lover Momo was mentioned again in "Knowing Bros."
In the latest episode of JTBC’s entertainment show “Knowing Bros,” which aired on June 15th, Choi Jin-hyuk, Lee Jung-eun and Jung Eun-ji, the main cast of the new drama “Miss Night and Day,” appeared as guests and had a good talk.
In this day, the “Knowing Bros” cast and guests teamed up two by two, pretending that they exchanged their bodies during the day and at night, just like the main characters in the drama.
Kim Hee-chul and Kim Young-chul were paired up and talked about how they imagined what it would be like to live each other’s lives. Kim Hee-chul said, “I’m curious about Young-chul’s life. He speaks several languages and is smart,” while Kim Young-chul said, “I really want to live like Hee-chul. Date girl group members, kiss and hang out with them until 3-4 a.m..” This reminds viewers of Kim Hee-chul’s ex, TWICE’s Momo.
A netizen captured this scene and made a post of Kim Young-chul’s remarks on the popular Korean online community Instiz. Most of the Internet users expressed negative opinions in the comment section, asking, “Is it necessary to mention Kim’s ex in that situation?” Internet users emphasized that Kim Young-chul’s remarks went too far with comments such as, “He (Kim Hee-chul) didn’t mention it himself, but this seems to be the reason why fans hate when idols announce their dating news.”
It also led to criticism against the production team for not editing the scene out. A netizen commented, “It’s already a problem that they mentioned her, but the program producers should have cut the scene out on their own.”
This is not the first time Momo has been mentioned in “Knowing Bros.” Earlier on November 12, 2022, Chae Soo-bin and Choi Min-ho, who were starring in the Netflix drama “The Fabulous,” came to the show to promote their drama.
The two used to be lovers and then became close friends after breaking up. The members of “Knowing Bros” couldn’t understand how they could do that, and Lee Soo-geun suddenly turned his arrow to Kim Hee-chul and said, “Because of you, that team (TWICE) can’t come to our show.”
In addition, in a broadcast on August 19 last year, when Shin Dong said, “Hee-chul has the most female friends,” Lee Soo-geun indirectly mentioned Momo by saying, “We thought she was his female friend at first, but the result turned out different.”
Meanwhile, Kim Hee-chul and Momo officially admitted their dating rumor in January 2020 and broke up in July 2021.
