Kep1er to disband in July without contract renewal

Girl group Kep1er will end their journey after 2 years and 6 months

According to Star News on April 25th, Kep1er members (Kim Chae-hyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yu-jin, Kim Da-yeon, Seo Young-eun, Kang Ye-seo, Hikaru Ezaki, Mashiro Sakamoto, Shen Xiaoting) will return to their respective agencies by the end of July. Before ending their activities, they plan to release an album and hold one final performance to bid farewell to their fans.

Kep1er is a multinational 9-member project girl group born through Mnet’s “Girls Planet 999”, which ended in October 2021. Debuting with their first mini-album “FIRST IMPACT” in January 2022, Kep1er set a 2-year and 6-month activity period, which ends in July 2024.

Despite the short period, Kep1er has achieved remarkable success not only domestically but also in the global music market. Therefore, last year, all members’ agencies gathered to discuss extending project activities. After that, Kep1er’s agency Wake One said, “We will continue to discuss extending the activities mutually.

If this agreement had been reached, it would have been the first case of contract extension among idol groups born from audition programs. Therefore, both Wake One and the members’ agencies hoped for a positive outlook on extending the activities. However, unfortunately, Kep1er recently decided not to extend their activities.

Kep1er will release their first Japanese full-length album “Kep1going” on May 8th.
