Introducing her album “LILAC”, IU said, “It was the last album of my 20s. It felt like a closure of my 20s. I was swamped in my 20s thinking I’d become unhealthy working this hard”, adding “I only worked because I had so much fun, but it was almost like I was addicted to games. Rather than working hard in a healthy way and enjoying my life. I was like I was addicted to work”.

IU, who is now in her 30s, shared, “I feel a lot more comfortable in my skin since I did my very best in my 20s. I feel that I have earned the right to stay comfortable in my 30s”.

Regarding how she writes lyrics and delivers stories through them, IU said, “I’ve been trained a little. ‘When I express this feeling in this way, people empathize better’. When I go vague, it could cause misunderstanding and it could hurt someone when it’s not my intention at all.”

Lastly, IU confessed, “Experiencing all that made me be trained better in tailoring my thoughts. I’ve become better at that, compared to the early days.”
