(G)I-DLE’s “Super Lady” MV was Plagiarized, Said Director

The 6th debut anniversary of (G)I-DLE was soured by a plagiarism accusation from the director of “Super Lady” MV.

On May 3, Son Seung-hee, the director of the music video for (G)I-DLE’s 2nd full-length album [2]’s title track “Super Lady”, posted on their SNS. In particular, the director accused another group of copying the “Cruella set” from the “Super Lady” MV.

“It’s okay to take reference from other creators,” the director expressed, adding, “I also drew inspiration from other great works. But this is a copy, not a reference.”

In the video shared together with Son Seung-hee’s accusation, scenes featuring the background and props with Dalmatian patterns, similar to those in the “Super Lady” music video, particularly during Yuqi’s part with the Cruella concept, can be seen.

It is known that the music video that plagiarized the set and props used in that scene is “sipvay” – a song released in April by overseas artists Yanitsa and  Bily Anish.

On the other hand, (G)I-DLE celebrates their 6th year debut anniversary on May 2.

Previously, the girl group drew huge attention with the high-budget MV for “Super Lady”, which is the title track of their latest album, [2].
