Gallup Korea has announced its surprising results for the Singer category of its “Top 50 Things that Koreans Like” survey.

On June 19, Gallup Korea published its result for the “Top 50 Things that Koreans Like” survey, which was conducted from March 22 to April 5, 2024 with over 1,777 people aged 13 or older nationwide.

According to Gallup Korea, the results for the Singer category of “Top 50 Things that Koreans Like” is as follows:

  1. Lim Young-woong: 10.3%
  2. IU: 9.0%
  3. BTS: 4.9%
  4. Na Hoon-ah: 4.0%
  5. New Jeans: 3.5%
  6. Jang Yun-jeong: 3.4%
  7. Jin-seong: 2.7%
  8. Yeong-tak: 2.4%
  9. Song Ga-in: 2.4%
  10. BLACKPINK: 2.2%

Other singers with who received more than 1% responses from the survey includes Lee Chan-won (2.0%), Sung Si-kyung (1.9%), Kim Yeon-ja (1.6%), Kim Ho-jung, Cho Yong-pil (over 1.5%), and Lee Hyori (1.3%), Lyn (1.2%), Jeon Yu-jin, IVE (above 1.1%), as well as Jang Min-ho, Lee Seung-cheol, Lee Moon-se, and Lee Mi-ja (above 1.0%).

It seems that Lim Young-woong’s popularity in Korea is immense, especially among older woman, leading to the trot singer even overcoming top idol groups like BTS, NewJeans, and BLACKPINK and even the “nation’s little sister” IU.
